French Pastry Pie Crust
My 1982 joy of cooking crust recipes all called for shortening, which i didn't have, the moosewood cookbook recipe didn't inspire confidence in me, and i was at a bit of a loss.

My mom found this recipe several years ago, and I still use it today.
Ingredients | Pillsbury Pie Crust Recipes3 cups all-purpose flour1 ½ teaspoons salt3 tablespoons white sugar1 cup shortening1 egg1 teaspoon distilled white vinegar5 tablespoons waterDirectionsIn a large mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, and sugar. Mix well, then cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal.In a small bowl, combine egg, vinegar, and 4 tablespoons of water. Whisk together, then add gradually to flour mixture, stirring with a fork. Mix until dough forms a ball.
